Litigation Attorney Alfred U. Pavlis Returns to Finn Dixon & Herling

STAMFORD, CT September 4, 2024 – Finn Dixon & Herling LLP is pleased to announce that Alfred U. Pavlis has returned to the firm as a litigation partner, after serving for the past two years as the First Assistant U.S. Attorney in the District of Connecticut. As the First Assistant, he acted as the principal advisor to the U.S. Attorney and oversaw the Civil, Criminal, and Administrative Divisions of the Office.

Pavlis was previously a partner at Finn Dixon & Herling from 2010 until May 2022. During that period, he served in a variety of roles, including as Chair of the Litigation Practice Group, General Counsel of the firm, and a member of the Management Committee. Pavlis returns to FDH with more than 35 years of experience representing corporate and individual clients in complex civil litigation, white-collar criminal investigations, and regulatory enforcement actions.

In his decades of experience in private practice, Mr. Pavlis has represented a broad array of clients, including public and private corporations, officers and directors, investment bankers, traders, attorneys, accountants, and physicians. He has successfully navigated these individuals and companies through civil and criminal matters involving claims of securities and commodities fraud, insider trading, accounting fraud, healthcare fraud, civil RICO violations, attorney malpractice, breach of fiduciary duties, and merger and acquisition disputes.    

Earlier in his career, Mr. Pavlis served for five years as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Southern District of New York, where he prosecuted a wide variety of federal criminal cases, including securities and other white collar fraud violations. He received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law and his B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania; and served as a law clerk for the Honorable T. F. Gilroy Daly, U.S. District Court for Connecticut.
