Al Pavlis has more than 35 years of experience representing corporate and individual clients in complex civil litigation, white-collar criminal matters, and regulatory enforcement investigations. He also has extensive experience conducting internal investigations on behalf of boards of directors and audit committees.

Al recently returned to FDH after serving as the First Assistant U.S. Attorney in the District of Connecticut. In this senior leadership role, he was the principal advisor to the U.S. Attorney and oversaw the civil, criminal, and administrative divisions of that office. Earlier in his career, he was an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Southern District of New York, handling a variety of federal criminal cases, including significant securities and other white-collar prosecutions.

During his decades of experience in private practice, Al has represented a broad array of clients, including public and private corporations, officers and directors, investment bankers, securities and commodities traders, attorneys, accountants, physicians, and educational institutions. He has successfully navigated these individuals and companies through civil and criminal matters involving claims of securities and commodities fraud, insider trading, accounting fraud, healthcare fraud, civil RICO violations, attorney malpractice, breach of fiduciary duties, and merger and acquisition disputes. Al is also a seasoned courtroom lawyer, having tried more than 20 criminal and civil trials and argued numerous appeals in federal and state courts.

In his earlier tenure at FDH, Al served as chair of the Litigation group, General Counsel of the firm, and a member of the Management Committee.
