While Bill, a founding partner of the firm, is now partially retired, he continues to counsel long-standing clients from time to time, particularly with respect to pending or threatened litigation, and other dispute resolution matters.

Bill has long been recognized as a leader in the legal profession, both in Connecticut and nationally.  ln Connecticut, Bill has served as a member of the Blue Ribbon Commission of the Connecticut Attorney General (1982-83), a member of the Advisory Committee of the Connecticut Banking Commissioner (Chair (2001-2017), a member of the Executive Committee of the Business Law Section of the Connecticut Bar Association (Chair 1992-1994), a member of the Advisory Committee on the Revision of the Banking Laws of Connecticut (1993-1994), a member of the Task Force on Revision of the Connecticut Business Corporation Act (Co-Chair) 1994-1997).

Nationally, Bill has served as a member of the Council of the Business Law Section of the American Bar Association (2000-2004), a member of the Banking Law Committee of the Business Law Section of the American Bar Association (Vice Chair, 1992-1994, Co-Chair, 1994-1996, and Chair 1996-1998).  Bill is an Elected Member of the American Law Institute.

Bill served on active duty in the U.S. Navy (1960-1963) and in the ready reserve in the U.S. Navy (1963-1969).  He has also served as Co-President, North Street School, PTA (1978-1979, 1980-1981), a member of the Board of Trustees of the Greenwich Country Day School (1987-1991), a member of the Board of Trustees of the Connecticut Fund for the Environment (1997-2002), and as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Naval War College Foundation (2010-2014).
