Matt is an associate in the Internal Investigations, White-Collar Defense, and Complex Civil Litigation groups. Matt’s practice is focused on representing clients in investigations conducted by the Department of Justice and Securities & Exchange Commission. Matt also represents clients in complex civil litigation in federal and state courts.
Prior to joining Finn Dixon & Herling, Matt was an associate at Day Pitney LLP in Stamford, Connecticut, and Williams & Connolly LLP, in Washington, D.C., where he worked on SEC, congressional, and internal investigations and complex commercial litigation. Matt also served as a law clerk to the Honorable Gerard E. Lynch, United States Circuit Judge for the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
Representative Matters
- Represented a large transportation company that was the target of a multi-year investigation of disadvantaged business enterprise (DBE) fraud by a U.S. Attorney’s Office, which successfully resulted in a complete declination.
- Represented two high level executives at a mining company in an FCPA investigation where no charges were filed.
- Represented a fund manager and its executives in an investigation by the Securities & Exchange Commission.
- Provided pro bono representation to a person in the custody of the Connecticut Department of Correction who was denied medical treatment for gender dysphoria.
- Successfully defended an independent school in Connecticut against a defamation suit.
