Matt Danzer is a litigation attorney focusing on white-collar defense, internal investigations, and complex civil litigation. He represents companies, executives, and government officials in investigations conducted by the Department of Justice, the Securities & Exchange Commission, and other federal and state agencies. Matt’s experience spans a variety of industries—including healthcare, finance, manufacturing, natural resources, and the public sector—where he provides strategic counsel aimed at minimizing the operational and personal burdens of the legal process while driving toward successful resolutions.
Prior to joining Finn Dixon & Herling, Matt was an associate at Williams & Connolly LLP in Washington, D.C., and Day Pitney LLP in Stamford, Connecticut. In those roles, he worked on sensitive SEC, congressional, and internal investigations, as well as complex commercial litigation. Matt also served as a law clerk to the Honorable Gerard E. Lynch, United States Circuit Judge for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
Matt is deeply committed to public service and pro bono representation. He has represented individuals in the custody of the Connecticut Department of Correction in civil rights matters and has advocated for multiple individuals in immigration proceedings. He currently teaches a Constitutional Law elective at Greens Farms Academy.
Representative Matters
- Represented a large transportation company that was the target of a multi-year investigation of disadvantaged business enterprise (DBE) fraud by a U.S. Attorney’s Office, which successfully resulted in a complete declination.
- Successfully defended a major investment platform against a Connecticut Unfair Trade Practices Act (CUTPA) lawsuit involving allegations of misrepresentation, resulting in a complete dismissal.
- Represented two high-level executives at a mining company in an FCPA investigation where no charges were filed.
- Represented a fund manager and its executives in an investigation by the Securities & Exchange Commission.
- Successfully defended an independent school in Connecticut against a defamation suit.
