Debt Finance Partner and Chair of Finn Dixon & Herling LLP’s Wellness Committee, and past Chair of the Connecticut Bar Association’s Wellbeing Committee, Tanyee Cheung has authored an article in the Wellness Issue of CT Lawyer magazine (March/April 2026).  In the article, “Letting Go to Level Up: A Lawyer’s Guide,” she examines how legal performance is shaped not just by skill, but by how efficiently lawyers use their energy—much of which is often drained by internal reactions like frustration and mental replay.

Resisting what has already happened creates internal friction that clouds judgment and reduces effectiveness. In a profession where clarity and focus are critical, managing these responses is a professional advantage, not just a personal one.

Cheung introduces the LET GO framework: Look and Label, Examine the facts, Test the narrative, Ground in reality, and Operate with clarity. The goal is not to lower standards, but to conserve energy and act with intention based on what is real.

She concludes that wellness must go beyond programs and panels to include honest conversations about real challenges and support. Reducing internal friction allows lawyers to perform at their best—so when frustration arises: LET GO, and level up.
