Finn Dixon & Herling Welcomes New Investment Management Partner

We are pleased to announce that Zachary J. Moore has joined the firm as a partner in its Investment Management Practice. Mr. Moore focuses on the organization and operation of private investment funds across a variety of investment strategies, including private credit, special situations, leveraged buyout and growth.

Prior to joining Finn Dixon & Herling, Mr. Moore spent nearly six years at Sixth Street Partners in San Francisco and New York, a leading global investment firm with over $70 billion in assets under management. Most recently, he served as a Managing Director, leading the fund formation legal function and serving as the principal in-house counsel across Sixth Street’s investment fund products. Prior to his tenure at Sixth Street, Mr. Moore practiced in the Private Investment Funds group at Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton LLP in New York.

“Zak’s experience overseeing the legal intricacies of structuring, marketing, negotiating, and closing a sizable number and diverse range of investment funds and accounts will be a tremendous asset to our firm and clients,” said Christopher H. Craig, Finn Dixon & Herling’s managing partner. “The addition of a partner with a deep understanding of the complex commercial and legal dynamics of private investment fund capital formation and the broad spectrum of regulatory and compliance matters facing investment advisers is critical in today’s global economy.”

Reed S. Balmer, partner and managing chair of the Investment Management Practice agreed, commenting that “Zak’s experience representing sponsors on multi-billion dollar fundraises across a diverse range of investment fund products, including open and closed-end funds, evergreen and ‘hybrid’ funds and his skills in collaborating with a diverse array of stakeholders, including hundreds of foreign sovereign, U.S. state pension plan, private tax-exempt, and high-net-worth investors demonstrates his immense talent. We look forward to the contributions he will make to our team.”

“Finn Dixon & Herling has built a tremendous private investment funds practice to support the evolving needs of top-tier asset managers,” said Mr. Moore. “I’m excited to join the team and continue building on its existing strong platform for sponsor clients across fund strategies, structures and asset classes.”

Mr. Moore received his B.A., magna cum laude, from Dartmouth College and his J.D. from Columbia University Law School. After law school, he served as a law clerk for the Honorable Leslie H. Southwick, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. He is admitted to practice in New York.
